  1. Absolutely, unless you count getting up to go to the bathroom about when the sun is coming up, then going back to bed for another few hours! :-)

  2. Kirsten, thank you for dropping by my blog.
The Groundhog thingy always gives me a hoot – since winter always ends in about six weeks.

  3. Hi, Bernita — you have a wonderful blog! In fact I think I may have to create a new category in my blogroll of writer blogs, since work like yours definitely stands in a class of its own.

Re: GH day — I grew up distraught by it, because I wasn’t clear what the alternative to “six more weeks” is. Winter ends tomorrow? Winter lasts ’til June?

(Hmmm. . . . in retrospect, I’m thinking my suffering over this issue may explain a lot . . .)

  4. No Ms Groundhog is the the last one to bed and the last one up. Groundhogs to not cohabitate, and no not live together as adults any more than absolutely necessary. Mr. Groundhog goes to sleep about a month before Ms Groundhog, just lke a male. Mr. Groundhog then wakes up a month before Ms Groundhog and finds on occupied burrow. So much for all that courtship stuff. I think after completing his business. Mr. Groundhog leaves. It then up to Ms Groundhog to take care of the little ones.

These groundhogs do sound sexist to me and you Earth women complain about bad treatment. I think you girls should let them folks in Pennsyvania have it for honoring such a sexist animal.

  5. lol, David, I am going to consult with you from now on when I have a question on woodland rodent behavior! Bravo! lol
