{"id":682,"date":"2006-10-12T07:25:22","date_gmt":"2006-10-12T12:25:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kirstenmortensen.com\/index.php\/?p=682"},"modified":"2020-01-03T12:31:29","modified_gmt":"2020-01-03T17:31:29","slug":"okay-he-tagged-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kirstenmortensen.com\/index.php\/okay-he-tagged-me\/","title":{"rendered":"Okay, he tagged me"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cherishauthor.blogspot.com\/\">John aka Duke of Earle<\/a> says I HAVE to play . . . who am I to argue?<\/p>\n<p><strong>1) One book that changed your life:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2SSgNbd\"><em>Outwitting Squirrels<\/em> by Bill Adler<\/a>, because encountering it triggered a chain of events that eventually led to my co-writing <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2QNdH5I\">Outwitting Dogs<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=outwittingdog-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/>. &#8216;Nuff said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2) One book that you&#8217;d read more than once:<\/strong> Hmmmmm. <a href=\"http:\/\/Anna Karenina\" data-wplink-url-error=\"true\"><em>Anna Karenina<\/em><\/a>, might as well use that one. Blogged about <a href=\"https:\/\/kirstenmortensen.com\/a-suitable-boy-by-vikram-seth\/\">my second read of that book here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3) One book you&#8217;d want on a deserted island:<\/strong> A honkin&#8217; big blank book. Five subject college ruled notebook would do, although if the pages were unruled I could write really tiny and it would last even longer, even if later I wouldn&#8217;t be able to read a bit of it. Also a box of halfway decent pens.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4) One book that made you laugh: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2sIMN7b\"><em>To the Nines<\/em>, the first Janet Evanovitch<\/a> novel I ever read, comes to mind. I laughed out loud a LOT reading that book. And later asked whether there was much higher to aspire to, as a writer, than to make people laugh . . .<\/p>\n<p><strong>5) One book that made you cry:<\/strong> Reading in the Kipling short story collection <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2QM0YjV\"><em>Debits and Credits<\/em> <\/a>some months ago I came across the &#8220;The Bull that Thought,&#8221; and sobbed uncontrollably at the end because of the redemption of brutishness by Art &#8212; by a mutual recognition of Art.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6) One book you wish you&#8217;d written: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2rRRsmV\"><em>Pilgrim at Tinker Creek<\/em><\/a> by Annie Dillard.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7) One book you wish had never been written:<\/strong> Hey, how about <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/37BU9s6\"><em>A Confederacy of Dunces<\/em> <\/a>by John Kennedy Toole, since maybe if he hadn&#8217;t of written it he wouldn&#8217;t have offed himself. Don&#8217;t throw in your hand, Mr. Toole . . .<\/p>\n<p><strong>8) One book you&#8217;re currently reading:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2QGceON\"><em>Memories, Dreams and Reflections<\/em> <\/a>by Carl Jung.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9) One book you&#8217;ve been meaning to read:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2MUeAbw\"><em>Tristram Shandy<\/em><\/a>. Started it, got distracted, will pick it back up one of these days.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10) Tag five people: <\/strong>Is this like a chain letter? All my doorknobs will fall off if I don&#8217;t? Is it okay if I ask people first? Hey, I can start with my dad :-) &#8212; Dad, want to be tagged? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.erikmarshall.net\/blog\/\">Erik, have you<\/a> done this one yet? Carrie?
