{"id":408,"date":"2006-05-02T08:38:27","date_gmt":"2006-05-02T13:38:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kirstenmortensen.com\/index.php\/?p=408"},"modified":"2020-01-02T12:31:10","modified_gmt":"2020-01-02T17:31:10","slug":"the-scandal-that-keeps-on-scandaling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kirstenmortensen.com\/index.php\/the-scandal-that-keeps-on-scandaling\/","title":{"rendered":"The scandal that keeps on scandaling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I guess if you&#8217;re going to plagiarize, you might as well plagiarize from more than one book.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Harvard Crimson<\/em> is now reporting it&#8217;s found passages from Kaavya Viswanathan&#8217;s novel &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/37pcXdT\">How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild, and Got a Life<\/a>&#8221; that were lifted from <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/39tZH9u\">Meg Cabot&#8217;s &#8220;The Princess Diaries&#8221;<\/a> and Salman Rushdi&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/37qeKiC\">Haroun and the Sea of Stories<\/a>&#8220;\u009d(!!!).<\/p>\n<p>And <em>The New York Times<\/em> (registration required) has published a piece reporting similarities between passages in Viswanathan&#8217;s book and passages in &#8220;Can You Keep a Secret?&#8221; by Sophie Kinsella.<\/p>\n<p>This wasn&#8217;t a novel.
