To."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I received an email today, at my blogsite addy, from The Editor. It struck a kind of familiar tone, which is strange because I don&#8217;t recall having been introduced to The Editor before.<\/p>\n<p>And now he\/she has popped up with a polite note reminding me to re-list my website in his\/her directory . . .<\/p>\n<p>Hmmmm.<\/p>\n<p>So I did a little googling and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dynamoo.com\/diary\/www-goto-com.htm\">look what I found<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>For three years now, there has been a &#8220;website directory&#8221; scam running, where webmasters are sent bogus &#8220;renewal&#8221; notices via email, encouraging them to sign up for a web directory service, various hosted at www-goto.com or dirs.org . . .<\/p>\n<p>As we have already demonstrated in the past, this is part of a exercise that is designed to collect fees from webmasters from a service they did not ask for.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Perhaps you&#8217;ve heard the expression &#8220;don&#8217;t feed the trolls.&#8221; Here&#8217;s another nice motto for a gorgeous First of May: don&#8217;t feed the snakes, either.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I received an email today, at my blogsite addy, from The Editor.
