I posted this entry because my hunch is that the 527s are taking money away from the DNC proper, mirroring the split in the policy priorities of the leftist & centrist elements of the Democratic Party, which I think is an intriguing premise. Once we're looking back on it as history it will be clearer, I'm sure. Not the least bit surprising--the party with control of the White House always has the monetary advantage--check out the final Clinton years. Not only doesn't the WH party have to spend as much to get jobs done and people elected but all the President has to do is show up someplace and money rolls in. RNC had 4 times as much money to begin with in December, received 3 times as much in donations, spent twice as much as the DNC and has 5 times as much cash on hand.
