Why Jerry always helped his clueless little nephew

Mice that see other mice in pain are more sensitized to pain themselves. IOW, they have a kind of built-in, biological empathy.

There’s more than a touch of irony to this story, however. To conduct the experiment described in the linked article, the scientists had to subject mice to pain.

So, apparently, the scientists are proving empathy in mice, while exhibiting absolutely zero empathy themselves.

I find that kind of creepy.
